Bamboo is better for the planet...

Bamboo is one of the most renewable resources in the world!

Rapid Renewability: Despite its tough exterior bamboo is actually a grass. When harvested, it's cut down and the roots remain to quickly regrow.

  • Bamboo can grow right before your eyes— up to 3 feet per day!
  • We can produce up to 14 harvests of bamboo in the amount of time it takes most hardwood trees to grow to maturity.

Low Environmental Impact: Bamboo grows easily without a need to drastically change the growing environment.

  • Bamboo does not require artificial irrigation.
  • No pesticides or fertilizers are needed to grow bamboo.
  • Bamboo is highly efficient at absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen.
  • The Moso bamboo we use is not a part of the Giant Panda's diet.

... and your kitchen!

In addition to its outstanding sustainability, bamboo is a wonderful material for use in the kitchen.

Strong & Durable:

  • Bamboo is incredibly strong for its weight— in fact it has a tensile strength similar to steel!

Lightweight:

  • Bamboo is much lighter than hardwoods, making it easy to transport around the home.

Knife Friendly:

  • The hard surface of bamboo is not overly rigid, which helps to keep your knives sharp longer than glass, plastic, metal or other hardwood surfaces.

Easy Maintenance

  • While mostly being hand wash only, bamboo cleans easily with mild soap and water.
  • Occasional application of our Revitalizing Oil will help maintain optimal performance and keep your bamboo looking its best.

The first in bamboo.

Over 20 years ago, our first bamboo cutting boards came from scraps from our handmade furniture we were selling at street festivals. On a lark, we brought them to an art show we were exhibiting in. We were stunned when they sold in minutes. Joanne looked at Tom and said "this is our new product" and Totally Bamboo was born!

We hope you enjoy our fun and functional creations for your kitchen and home.
