Why Bamboo?

Bamboo is one of the most sustainable resources in the world! Despite its tough exterior, bamboo is actually a grass. When harvested, the roots remain allowing it to quickly regrow. Bamboo does not require clear-cutting, artificial irrigation or replanting.

Bamboo is better for your kitchen too! It’s lightweight yet incredibly durable. Bamboo is gentler on knives than plastic and easier to clean and maintain than hardwood — it cleans quickly with hand washing in warm water.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • When will my order ship? Where will it ship from?

Orders typically ship out 1 to 2 business days after they are placed. All orders ship from our Texas warehouse.

You'll receive an email with tracking information once your order is on its way.

  • Are any chemicals used to grow bamboo?

All our bamboo is grown without the use of pesticides, fertilizers, chemicals or artificial irrigation. Bamboo is considered one of the most sustainable resources in the world because of the gentle harvesting process. When harvesting bamboo, the root system is left in place, which allows for quick regrowth.

  • How is bamboo treated during manufacturing? Are any dyes or stains used on your bamboo products? What is the process?

Bamboo is split and then boiled and/or heated with steam and pressure before it’s glued into boards using food-safe adhesives. A longer heat/steam process is what creates the caramelized color in the dark boards.  There are no colors added. The color of bamboo may vary based on how long it is under heat treatment. The longer the heat treatment, the darker the color. After the boards are made, mineral oil is applied.

  • What temperature can my trivet handle?

Like wood, bamboo can withstand heat up to around 400 degrees, but its temperature also depends on the duration of exposure.

Our trivets will sustain damage if the heat from your pot is excessive. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that the surface will not be damaged when using them with pots coming directly from the stove top or broiler. To ensure your trivet does not get damaged, please transfer food to a heat safe serving dish on the stove top first, and then place the dish on your bamboo trivet.
